MARCH OF DIMES DRIVE A SUCCESS
The annual March of Dimes Jail and Bail event held over the weekend was judged a great success...especially considering the economy in the state and local area. Volunteers from across Saint Clair County agreed to be “jailed” and attempted to meet “bail” with donations from co-workers, friends, and family members. Local Executive Director Gerald Keller says 165-thousand dollars raised for the event but he says funds often trickle in for a few days after which could bring the total to over 170-thousand. This year the event was again broadcast live on WPHM and Comcast Cable TV......and for the first time was streamed as well on the Internet thanks to Nerds On Site. Keller tells us to expect some major changes next year in the layout of the stage area at the Masonic building. Funds raised for the March of Dimes goes towards the campaign for healthier babies.
